WELCOME TO THE TOWNSHIP OF SOMERSET!

The Township of Somerset is a growing zoned community perched on the eastern edge of Hillsdale County and bordered by both Jackson and Lenawee Counties in the southern middle part of the state of Michigan. Situated at the crossroads of US-12 and US-127, the Township of Somerset provides optimum commutes to the cities of Hillsdale, Coldwater, Jackson, and Adrian. Smaller communities within the 36 square miles of the Township of Somerset set the tone for relaxed, friendly neighborhoods. Within the drive time of an hour or so, larger metropolitan areas such as Ann Arbor, Battle Creek, Lansing, Detroit, and Toledo, Ohio are accessible via main highways.

The Irish Hills area begins directly east of the Township of Somerset providing nearby tourist attractions including Michigan International Speedway; located in Brooklyn, only 11 miles away.

Scenic, yet diverse, the Township of Somerset offers rolling hills, farmland, Department of Natural Resources areas and many lakes, both public and private as well as a dedicated commercial corridor along US-12 which traverses through the entire northern portion of the Township of Somerset from border to border.

Bundy Hill, located in the Township of Somerset was the highest point above sea level in Lower Michigan for years. The headwaters of the Grand River that flow west into Lake Michigan start with natural springs in the Township of Somerset. The River Raisin watershed area flows in the opposite direction to empty into Lake Erie. The Township of Somerset is rich in history and proud of its heritage as part of the "Sauk Trail"; an old Indian Trail used for travel and commerce.

Make plans to visit the Township of Somerset soon!
